Alexandre Plokhov

I don't think I have ever been as excited for the launch of a clothing line as I am about that of Alexandre Plokhov's eponymous label dropping this fall. I have featured pictures of the ex-Cloak designer's work several times here but I thought that he deserved a post all to himself.

Plokhov started the now defunct menswear label Cloak while working at Marc Jacobs in the early 2000's where he met Robert Geller, a graduate of RISD. Geller joined Cloak a few years later and helped design some of the most influential collections of the decade until he left in 2004. More on Cloak (which Plokhov shut down in 2007 due to financial problems) and Geller in a later post......

The fall winter 2011 Alexandre Plokhov collection has foundations in traditional tailoring, with masterfully crafted suits and coats, all bearing a small twist, such as zippered elbows, clasp instead of buttons, and bondage straps reminiscent of Helmut Lang's early work. The overall look marks the rebirth of the slim and androgynous style that has appeared to have died out the past few years, especially with Hedi Slimane's leave from Dior Homme. Enjoy......
