White Out

Spring 2012

The most prevalent trend at the spring summer 2012 shows this past week was the overabundance of white. Designers have toned down their violently strong usage of color and are looking for softer alternatives to paint your wardrobe with.

Be a Better Man

For those of you who haven't discovered it yet, I love Hedi Slimane and his work. A few years ago, in the summer of 2008 to be exact, I stumbled upon a video of him that included this song. It is called "Better Man" and it's by a British artist named Bill Baylis. The song itself has nothing to do with fashion, but it brought some meaning to the clothes for me. "Everything you do should make your life better" really spoke to me, and I guess it had something to do with me changing how I dressed. I wanted to change what I wore and also how I wore it. I wanted people to take me more seriously.

Espadrilles

I don't usually follow trends, but I convinced myself to pull the trigger on a pair of these as I am in need of a comfortable and cheap shoe for the upcoming summer. Those of you with similar needs and identical financial enigmas can find the answer with espadrilles. They are becoming increasingly popular for boys, and Prada can be thanked for reviving the trend for this spring.
